One of the most common questions that we get asked is how to clean and care for your moissanite jewellery. You can easily clean your engagement ring at home using products that you already own! Moissanite repels dirt and grease even better than diamonds, so they often require less care and maintenance. They still need cleaning occasionally as soap, grime and sweat can build up around the stone.
Avoid cleaning your ring with harsh chemicals, as this can cause corrosion to the delicate ring setting. The best thing to clean moissanite with is warm water and soap. Simply fill a bowl with warm water with a mild soap (such as dishwashing liquid) and gently scrub the stone with a soft toothbrush or cloth. Let it soak for a few minutes and then rinse it well under running water and let it air dry. If you have a lint free cloth, use that to gently dry it.
Alternatively, you can use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean your moissanite jewellery.
There are no rules as to when you should clean your moissanite. Once a month should be enough or whenever you notice the stone, looking dirty!
