Frequently Asked Questions

Moissanite is a gemstone born from the stars. It was first discovered in 1893 by a French scientist named Henri Moissan, who later won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He discovered microscopic particles of the gem that would eventually bear his name in Arizona, in a crater created by a meteorite that fell to Earth. He initially thought that he had discovered diamonds, but later determined that the crystals were composed of silicon carbide. Natural moissanite is incredibly rare, so moissanite available today is laboratory-created. After many years of trial and error, the particles Moissan discovered were successfully synthesized to produce what is now one of the world’s most beautiful gemstones.

Moissanite engagement rings are trending in 2022 and for good reason. Most recently made popular by the stars of Selling Sunset, Moissanite is a responsible affordable choice for your dream ring.

When comparing moissanites to diamonds, moissanite engagement rings are more brilliant than white diamonds.

Moissanites have the ability to refract and reflect more light than a diamond. They have more fire and brilliance than diamonds do.

There are subtle differences between moissanite jewelry and diamond jewelry. Moissanite is made from pure silicon carbide (a rare naturally-occurring mineral), whereas diamond is made from carbon. Moissanite is a near-colorless stone that looks identical to a diamond. It is well known that moissanite jewelry sparkles more brightly under natural lighting than the equivalent priced diamond.

The average ring size for women varies widely from person to person, however, typically most women fit somewhere in between three categories - small: I-M, medium: N-Q and large: R-U. Rings are sized on a universal scale, but different countries have different ring-size systems. For example in the UK and Australia, letters are used to determine ring size while in the USA, numbers are used. When placing an order, keep in mind we use UK/ Australian letter sizing. Please choose carefully as we do not refund for incorrect sizing. Please click here to see our ring size chart.
